Watching an action movie is exciting, funny and full of adrenaline. Of course, some films are more interesting and captivating than others, so you want to know all the information about it before going to watch it at the cinema or renting it online. Some movies are so popular that they become part of our lives, and sometimes we feel like we know everything there is to know about them, but really, do we? Here’s 10 facts about the dark night movie that you probably don’t know!
1) The Dark Night Movie Director Christopher Nolan paid homage to one of his favorite movies
Nolan pays homage to one of his favorite movies, Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather. There are many similarities between these two films, both in content and visual style. Scenes that evoke the film’s mobster roots are peppered with uncanny sound effects reminiscent of Coppola’s work on The Godfather. The dialogue for The Dark Knight was recorded in a studio instead of on location, like many modern Hollywood movies.
2) The Dark Night Movie Director Christopher Nolan used Wayne Enterprises for Bruce Wayne in the film’s plot
Christopher Nolan’s decision to have Wayne Enterprises in Batman Begins had many implications. One, it ensured that the film could be a self-contained story. Two, since he was directing both Batman and The Dark Knight, he had access to Bruce Wayne as a character and therefore avoided having any real-life actors play him; in these films only Christian Bale plays Batman/Bruce Wayne.
3) The Dark Night Movie was inspired by Batman Comics
This is an amazing way to see Batman in a whole new light. One of my favourite movies is The Dark Night and I think it’s really cool how it was inspired by Batman comics. You can see some nods in its design for example, the car chase scene with Harvey Dent’s white van or when Bruce Wayne defeats Ra’s al Ghul. That makes me think that this could be the first of many film adaptations from the comic book world!
4) Heath Ledger died before he could receive his Oscar nomination
While this is, of course, a fact that many people know, one might not be aware of what happened to Ledger before he died. His character was scheduled to be killed off and even if he had been nominated for his performance in The Dark Knight, he would not have been able to accept the award. This time would have marked Heath Ledger’s first Oscar nomination after being nominated previously for 10 Things I Hate About You.
5) Critics gave positive reviews
The Dark Night received generally positive reviews from critics, with the review-aggregator Metacritic calculating a 71 out of 100, based on 41 reviews. When comparing to other films in 2008, including Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, The Dark Night is considered by some to be one of the best movies of 2008.
6) The Dark Night Movie made over $1 Billion dollars worldwide
The Dark Night Movie is one of the most successful movies in history. Although it’s not perfect, Christopher Nolan managed to produce a film full of characters and plot twists worth coming back for time and time again.
7) There are multiple references in popular culture to the DARK KNIGHT
Released in 1980, The Dark Night was directed by Tim Burton. This film tells the story of a man (Batman) who fights crime as an unknown vigilante hero after growing tired of how helpless police can be against psychotic criminals. The storyline and setting are inspired by Frank Miller’s comic book miniseries Batman: Year One. The Dark Night grossed $37 million worldwide on a production budget of $20 million.
8) The Batmobile in The Dark Knight Rises was auctioned off and purchased by Elon Musk
The Batmobile from Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises was put up for auction and has since been sold. Elon Musk, founder of Tesla and SpaceX, purchased the vehicle for a whopping $4.5 million with an agreement to also receive a certificate of authenticity.
9) Even Bane’s creator considers it superior to other Batman films
Batman’s second film appearance (after the Batman: The Animated Series episode Heart of Ice) is a relatively recent release, and considered by many to be one of the best superhero films in recent memory. Nevertheless, its reception was varied, with some criticism levied at aspects such as pacing and script quality.
10) Time magazine considers it as one of the ten greatest superhero movies of all time.
Christopher Nolan’s film ‘The Dark Knight’ is now considered one of the greatest superhero movies of all time by Time Magazine, among other publications. The 2007 release was so successful at a domestic box office grossing $534 million worldwide, and did well critically. There are many reasons why it is not surprising to find it ranked highly on most lists of this kind.
