The news of two rapidly approaching new Paramount+ “South Park” movies is just the tip of the iceberg, because it looks like Parker and Stone are going to drop two movies on an annual basis each and every year until 2027 (per Comic Book). Tanya Giles, Chief Programming Officer of ViacomCBS Streaming, revealed the situation at the Television Critics Association panel, and it looks like Parker and Stone have fully signed off on the approach.
“When we came to ViacomCBS with a different way to produce the show during the pandemic, Chris (McCarthy), Nina (Diaz), Keyes (Hill-Edgar), and Tanya (Giles) were immediately supportive and enabled us to try something new that turned out to be really well received,” the “South Park” creators stated. “We can’t wait to get back to doing traditional ‘South Park’ episodes, but now we can also try out new formats. It’s great to have partners who will always take a chance with us.”
It appears that “South Park” is not only going in some pretty exciting places, but fans can expect to see the first results of Parker and Stone’s latest experiments sooner rather than later.
