Simu Liu’s Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings Gets CinemaScore

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings starring Simu Liu received its official CinemaScore.

Marvel Studios’ newest film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings finally hit theaters this weekend, and critics and audiences alike are both enjoying the newest MCU outing and welcoming the newest hero played by Simu Liu with open arms (you can read our enthusiastic review for the film here). The film currently stands at a 92% approval rating from critics and an impressive 98% approval rating from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, and now, the official CinemaScore reflects that overwhelmingly positive reception.

CinemaScore officially revealed that after polling audiences upon seeing Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, the film received an A. Somewhere, Simu Liu’s parents are asking him, “Why not an A+, Simu?”

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings adds yet another A to Marvel Studios’ CinemaScore report card. In comparison, Black Widow received an A- whereas the only three MCU films to receive a rare A+ are the first Avengers film, Black Panther and Avengers: Endgame. With the film’s exclusive theatrical release, forgoing the dual theatrical/Disney+ Premier Access release strategy that was employed on Black Widow, Jungle Cruise and Cruella among others, it is likely that positive word of mouth will help the film’s box office tallies in the long run. Congratulations to Simu Liu, Destin Daniel Cretton and the rest of the cast and crew!
