Live-Action Marvel Zombies Project Reportedly In Development

According to comic writer Mark Millar, some kind of live-action version of Marvel Zombies is in development.

Last week, Marvel’s new animated Disney Plus series, What If…? released an episode that revolved around the various heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe being turned into zombies. The story was based on a fan-favorite comic by The Walking Dead writer Robert Kirkman that spun out of an Ultimate Fantastic Four story that Mark Millar wrote that involved a zombie version of Reed Richards attempting to invade the Ultimate Marvel Universe. The series would go on to have several sequels and spinoffs and, most recently, an animated adaptation. Now a live-action version of Marvel Zombies could be in the works.

Since entering the comic book industry Mark Millar has worked on a number of Marvel and DC series, with his most significant contributions made to the Marvel Ultimate Universe. He is perhaps best known for his work on the Civil War event series as well as Old Man Logan and several other storylines that have been adapted into feature films. If he is to be believed, Marvel Zombies may be the next series he created to get the live-action treatment.

In a newsletter Mark Millar briefly mentioned that he had heard that a live-action version of Marvel Zombies was in the works further down the line:

“(if my sources are correct) a little live-action Marvel Zombies further down the line, but you never heard that from me.”

We last saw an adaptation of Marvel Zombies in the Disney Plus animated series, What If…?. Here is the synopsis for the series:

“Exploring pivotal moments from the Marvel Cinematic Universe and turning them on their head, leading the audience into uncharted territory.”

What If…? features the voices of Josh Brolin, Natalie Portman, Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, Paul Rudd, Mark Ruffalo, Michael B Jordan, Chadwick Boseman, Jeffrey Wright, Hayley Atwell, and other major stars from the MCU.

The first five episodes of What If…? are available to stream on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for all the latest news on the future of Marvel Zombies as we learn it and be sure to subscribe to Heroic Hollywood’s YouTube channel for more original video content.
