Rachel Bloom and Aline Brosh McKenna Reteam for Hulu Comedy “Badass (And Her Sister)”

Some positive news for “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” fans: the creative minds behind the beloved series, Rachel Bloom and Aline Brosh McKenna, are reuniting with a new project currently in development at Hulu. Variety broke the news.

The comedy series, titled “Badass (And Her Sister),” would similarly see Brosh McKenna and Bloom serve as writers, co-showrunners, and executive producers, with Bloom also starring. The series reportedly focuses on an “impossibly badass spy (Bloom) who [when she] tires of her life of sexy espionage goes to live with her pushover twin sister (also played by Bloom) and, together, they learn what it means to actually be badass.”

Musical-dramedy “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” which ran for four seasons, also saw Bloom in the starring role, for which she won a Golden Globe and earned an Emmy in the Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics category. Her other TV acting credits include “BoJack Horseman” and upcoming Hulu project “Reboot.” She was previously reported to also be writing a movie about *NSYNC superfans.

As a screenwriter, Brosh McKenna’s other credits include “The Devil Wears Prada,” “27 Dresses,” “I Don’t Know How She Does It,” and “We Bought a Zoo,” along with her upcoming feature directorial debut, “Your Place or Mine.” Brosh McKenna also created the #FemaleFilmmakerFriday hashtag, a social movement that celebrates female directors’ achievements and amplifies their visibility.
