Showtime’s The Curse Release Date, Cast, And Plot

So, what is “The Curse” about? Per Deadline’s December 2020 report, the new Showtime project is a “genre-bending comedy explores” that shows “how an alleged curse disturbs the relationship of a newly married couple as they try to conceive a child while co-starring on their problematic new HGTV show.” In a truly dark and comedic twist, the name of the couple’s home makeover show is called “Flipanthropy.” Now, there’s no word on what exactly this curse entails or how it enters the lives of this couple. In true Sam Raimi fashion, do they run afoul of an old crone? Do they perhaps unearth an ancient relic? Do they believe they are victims of unlucky circumstances? Is the curse literal or merely figurative?

This television show had the potential to be reminiscent of Lifetime’s dark twist of all things Bachelor Nation-related, “UnREAL,” and we’re very intrigued. Deadline’s February 2020 report speculates the fictional couple (played by Nathan Fielder and, presumably, Emma Stone) bears at least a passing resemblance to Tarek El Moussa and Christina Haack, the HGTV couple whose marriage dissolved while still filming their series “Flip or Flop.” Also, the couple at the heart of Showtime’s “The Curse” certainly sounds more like fellow HGTV alums Chip and Joanna Gaines, the reigning power couple of televised home renovations.
