Cody Simpson has revealed that he had to get used to his new career as a swimmer. 

The 25-year-old told The Project on Friday night that the shift from touring the world and clubbing with A-listers took some adjustment. 

‘The lifestyle change for me has been polarising. It’s been a drastic change from where I came from to what I’m doing now,’ he said.

‘But I did grow up in the sport and grew up with a swimming family. And parents are both were competitive swimmers. So I was sort of born into it and did it for years growing up,’ he went on. 

‘And then when I went to the States and had the last 10 years in music doing, having the crazy sort of life. I really enjoy it and it’s kind of a nice change for me based on where I came from.’

Cody said he was ‘worried about the reception’ he would get from other swimmers but says he has been welcome with open arms and is getting lots of support.

The star is training hard for the upcoming 2022 Australian Swimming Championships with hopes to represent Australia in the Commonwealth Games later this year. 

The contest will see elite swimmers go head-to-head for their chance to represent Australia at the FINA World Swimming Championships in Budapest in June. 

Champions will then go onto the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham in July.

Alongside his hopes for gold medal glory, Cody recently released a new single named Nice To Meet You.

The musician sadly missed out on a place at the Tokyo Olympics at the Australian Olympic Trials in June last year.  

The young star, who made a bold charge at Olympic glory after many years away from the sport, placed last in the men’s 100-metre butterfly final.

Cody says he is training in the pool nine times per week up to two hours a day while doing three intense weight sessions for 90 minutes each.

The pop singer is training hard in an attempt to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
