Courteney Cox appears ready to start screaming again.

The 57-year-old actress hinted at the return of her Scream character Gale Weathers for the series’ upcoming sixth installment.

‘I don’t know about contracts and where things are, but I’ll tell you in the script — it’s a really good one,’ the Friends star told Entertainment Tonight

She went on to joke that ‘You actually have to be killed if you talk about it, so I’m not gonna say anything.’

Cox most recently returned to the role of Gale Weathers in the fifth movie, titled simply Scream like the 1996 original film, which came out in January.

She reprised the role alongside her co-stars from the original movie Neve Campbell and David Arquette, to whom Cox was married from 1999 to 2013.

It’s unlikely Arquette will return in much of a capacity, if any, since his character Dewey was killed off in the most recent film.

‘It was sad because Dewey is such a beloved character and he’s so goofy,’ Cox said on the Just For Variety podcast hosted by Marc Malkin back in March. ‘I thought he brought such a comedic twist to the whole franchise. I think that was a downer.’

Paramount announced a sixth movie for the series back in February. The Hollywood Reporter reported Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett would return to direct the movie.
