A new member of the Dunder Mifflin warehouse crew, Nate Nickerson (Mark Proksch), first showed up in Season 7, Episode 4. Nate’s character remained on the show until its end in 2013, and the fan reactions to some of his best moments prove that he remains to be a truly beloved and underrated favorite. Proksch plays a similar character named Colin Robinson on the FX series “What We Do in the Shadows,” and Colin is almost a carbon copy of Nate in terms of his goofy demeanor and aloof personality.
One Reddit thread dedicated to Nate asked for fans’ opinions of the character. Praising Nate, u/maali74 wrote, “His lines and delivery were –chef’s kiss-,” while another fan, u/AtlasShrugged- added, “Nate is especially an unexpected gem in there.” Other fans chatted about how Nate was perfectly underutilized in the show, so as to not get burnt out on his character too quickly. Nate’s role was perfectly balanced and he appeared at all the right times. In another thread that further showcases how fans got behind Nate, u/mookiburr wrote, “Even though he’s not a main character, he is one of my favorites. He’s so sweet, honest, and vulnerable, and doesn’t realize how hilarious he is.”
It’s safe to say that Nate Nickerson can do no wrong, and we do agree with him that gum has gotten mintier lately.
