Sophie Monk has been announced as the face of the 2022 Logie Awards, which returns to the Gold Coast on June 19 after a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic.

The 42-year-old will attend a breakfast event at the Burleigh Pavilion on Sunday where nominations for this year’s awards will be announced.

Speaking to The Sunday Telegraph, Sophie said: ‘I love the Logies. I love getting dressed up and celebrating local stuff.’

‘It is such a fun night, I love looking at the fashion and I get to get dressed up but someone does it for me so I look respectable.’

‘I think it’s going to be the best one yet because we haven’t done it for a while. Not to sound like a nerd burger but (it’s important) just to acknowledge people in the industry.’

Monk said she was opting for a ‘classic and comfy’ look for the upcoming awards show rather than following a fashion trend, saying her gold gown in 2019 was her favourite red carpet moment.

‘I’ve got a billion of ‘why did I wear that’,’ she said.

‘Sometimes it’s my hair, I was like why did I try that, why I did I tease it. Some dresses weigh 5kg and you can’t enjoy the night.’

Organisers Rizer will for the first time factor the ratings and have stated that being outside of primetime or on a multichannel won’t disadvantage anybody.

Given the Logies is a high profile event, the networks will likely use it as a marketing opportunity for key talent putting forward shows that are a continuing proposition – as opposed to a show that has screened its final episode.

The awards will take place at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre within The Star Gold Coast Entertainment Resort precinct.

Nominations will be published at 10am on Sunday and live voting opens Sunday and will close 7.30pm when the ceremony takes place on Sunday, June 19.
